The list of the week we have selected this time comes from the University of Derby, and has the rather wonderful portentous title of Apocalyptic and Paranoid Cultures.
You can view it here.
Why we like this list
When selected our lists of the week, we often highlight the quality of the list structure and this is no different. Good variety, clear, and we particular like the week-by-week guide with those intriguing subtitles.
However, this list also has a couple of other triats which stand out. The first is the range of resource types – if you select the ‘Group By: Type’ option on the top-right of the list, you’ll see what we mean. What is particularity noticeable is the volume of both Audio Visual material and Chapters – the latter forming over 50% of the list!
Secondly, the academic annotation on each section really stands out. Just take a moment to start reading one of them…we’ll wait…did you find yourself reading to the end like we did? The tone and cadence is both insightful, personal and genuinely interesting. Once read, it’s hard to not want to explore the resources contained within.
Closing thoughts
A resource list is an opportunity for an academic to both connect with, and enthuse, their students and we think this list does an exceptional job of achieving that. Do you have any lists in your organisation that make you want to sign up for the module like this one does? If so, tell us about them below.
